Why Your Support Matters
In 2017, I received a €1000 award from the Musiktheater Freunde Linz, recognizing me as a dancer of the year. Although the prize carried my name, it reflected the work, care, and collaboration of so many people with whom I had shared the stage and studio. I accepted it with gratitude — not only for the recognition but for the community that made it possible.
That support — both financial and symbolic — came at a turning point in my life. It helped me find strength to continue dancing, to begin teaching, and to pursue a master’s degree in Austria. It reminded me of the importance of supporting one another in this field.
Now, as an independent choreographer, educator, and researcher, I continue this journey — and I believe deeply in reciprocity. That’s why any support I receive today will not only help sustain my creations but will also contribute to the Centro Social Parque Estoril, the community space in my hometown in Brazil, where I took my very first dance steps. This center played a key role in shaping who I am — and I want to help preserve it for the next generation of children and young artists who, like me, may find in dance a way of imagining other futures. The Centro Social Parque Estoril is a philanthropic, non-profit organization officially recognized as a Civil Society Organization (OSC) in Brazil. It has been active for over 54 years — since its founding on January 12, 1970 — and is managed entirely by a volunteer board. The center holds municipal, state, and federal public utility status.
Its mission is to provide opportunities for the holistic development of underserved families, offering support to children and adolescents in situations of vulnerability, as well as to adults and the elderly. The center works across multiple areas — including social assistance, education, culture, recreation, and sports — with the goal of meeting basic needs and promoting dignity, citizenship, and inclusion, regardless of social class, origin, nationality, gender, race, or religion.
Your donation contributes not only to my artistic and pedagogical work but also helps keep this center alive — a space that opened doors for me and continues to do so for others.
Your donation or subscription will also help me carry forward other independent projects, including the creation of new choreographic works, the writing of articles and reflections, and the development of inclusive, embodied practices that I share through classes, performances, and collaborative research.
Support, in this case, is not only about producing art — it’s about making space. Space for dance to remain accessible. For learning to be shared. For memory and imagination to move together.
Everyone who contributes will receive updates on how their support is being used — transparently and with care. Because behind every movement, there’s a network of support. And I want to honor that by keeping it alive and in motion.– The sharing of embodied practices with wider communities.
